The MTC-100 series can be used for any applications that requires any type of magnetotellurics measurements.. Since 2016, we shipped 400 of these sensors all across the world. They have been used by our users for various applications.

Here is a brief list of some of the applications our clients have developed with the MTC-150 and MTC-180.

The MTC-100 series adds the AMT band at no extra cost for every MT survey. With overnight readings, this extra band is free of AMT deadband.

Static shift is a real issue when dealing with MT data. Up to this day, there is still no workflow that will allow the user to accurately measure or calculate by how much the data has been shifted through galvanic effects. The experienced geophysicist understands that he or she should not only rely on one technique. Additional, non grounded-measurements may help but are costly. Also, experience shows the TDEM response often cannot be used for static shift correction due to steep topography or rugose interfaces. Processing through inversions may work if the dataset is consistent. Well calibration and airborne EM, if available, can also be used.

Having the AMT band helps to mitigate the MT static shift effect . By going to high frequencies, the amount of shifting can be accurately estimated. In some cases, like the one displayed below, having the extra AMT band showed that the data are actually not shifted when calculating the response at 10,000Hz. No further processing is needed. The same example without the AMT band would have concluded that a shift is present and would have applied an unnecessary and inaccurate correction.

Mining targets are getting deeper. MT techniques are a viable alternative to traditional ground and airborne geophysical techniques that are often limited by depth. However, at depths of 800 meters and below, the 10 Hz - 10 seconds MT deadband often corresponds to the targets depths, making anomalies undetectable by regular MT and AMT surveys.

By delivering a much improved response in the MT deadband and a clean response in the AMT deadband with overnight readings, the MTC-100 series helps our mining industry that is striving to get reliable, low noise data from 10,000 Hz to 0.1 Hz.

The new BMT sensor makes MT-AMT surveys easier to collect together, no digging involved at our frequencies of interest and no more high frequency (AMT deadband) noise anymore. The recordings have more data and provides easier and better data analysis.
